Talks about Bratislava Mayor Candidate Are Held Inside Coalition Parties
Bratislava, June 8 (TASR) – Coalition parties Smer-SD, Slovak National Party (SNS) and Most-Hid are holding talks within the parties on selecting a candidate for Bratislava mayor in this year’s municipal election, TASR learnt on Friday.

However, it is not clear whether the parties will proceed jointly or each of them will have its own candidate to fight for the post of mayor of the capital, or whether they will support any of the candidates that have been or will be announced.
“There are ongoing talks on this issue,” Smer-SD told TASR. A similar response was provided by SNS, which hasn’t closed this issue yet. “Negotiations in Bratislava, as well as in other places, are still going on, we’ll inform about their results after they are completed,” stated Most-Hid.
Opposition OLaNO, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and We Are Family are supporting in the Bratislava mayoral election Jan Mrva, who currently serves as the mayor of Bratislava’s borough of Vajnory. Extra-parliamentary Together-Civic Democracy party and Progressive Slovakia support architect and musician Matus Vallo. Extra-parliamentary Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) has its own candidate Caroline Liskova.
In addition to them, incumbent mayor of Bratislava’s borough of Zahorska Ves Jozef Krupa and former general director of public broadcaster Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) Vaclav Mika are also running in the election. Incumbent Bratislava Mayor Ivo Nesrovnal said that he isn’t dealing with his candidacy yet.
