Premier: Jankovska Should Reconsider Whether Situation is Helping Her and Smer
Bratislava, August 26 (TASR) – Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) repeated on Monday that if suspicions that Justice Ministry State Secretary Monika Jankovska has been involved in the criminal activities of Marian K. turn out to be true he’ll take strong actions against her, adding that he doesn’t want to make judgements based on press articles and that he doesn’t intend to interfere with the investigation.
According to him, Jankovska herself should reconsider whether the current situation is helping her and the party that nominated her to the post, namely Smer-SD. “I want to believe that State Secretary [Jankovska] as an adult woman is aware of the fact that she’s a subject of an escalating political battle,” he said.
The premier went on to add that the only information he has at his disposal is the National Crime Agency (NAKA) seized mobile phones of several judicial authorities last week. “The judiciary must resist any influence and has to make unbiased decisions in the spirit of justice,” he stated, adding that the Slovak public should also share his view on this matter.
Pellegrini noted with regard to the publication of Marian K.’s chats with Alena Zs. that it has launched an organised game which can’t help the investigation of the murders of Jan Kuciak and Martina Kusnirova. He then refused the “hysterical” cries of the opposition, according to which the Government is taking no action in this case.
