Premier: Situation Stabilised, Let's Get to Work
Bratislava, April 20 (TASR) – Each minister of Peter Pellegrini’s Government (Smer-SD) has been tasked with drawing up two lists of priorities that he or she will deal with, TASR learnt on Friday.
Pellegrini after the Cabinet session on Friday added that the first list should contain tasks that will have been met by the end of 2018, while the tasks on the second list should have been completed by the end of the electoral term in 2020. The premier will personally oversee the meeting of these commitments and is set to meet each minister in person during May.
Pellegrini admitted that over the past few days the Government has been dealing with its own problems, including issues relating to the Interior Ministry, Police Corps President Tibor Gaspar’s departure as well as miscommunication within the coalition. “But I can say now that the situation had been stabilised again. The Cabinet has the support of Parliament, relations between the coalition partners have been cleared up, and so it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work,” he said.
The prime minister is convinced that the coalition’s main goal should be directed towards people’s real problems, and the 25th anniversary of Slovakia’s independence is a great opportunity to think about the state. Among the premier’s main priorities are eliminating red tape as well as providing help to pensioners, mothers with children and disabled people.
