Canoeist Petrusova Wins Gold Medal at Junior European Championship in Racice

Racice, July 13 (TASR) – Slovak athlete Mariana Petrusova won the gold medal in women’s U23 K1 1000 metres A final at the 2019 Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championship in Racice, the Czech Republic, on Saturday.

This is already the second medal that the nineteen-years-old canoeist has brought from a big event within a short time. The bronze medallist from Minsk European Games was this time 1.285 seconds faster than Anna Zagorska of Sweden, while Germany’s Carola Schmidt ended third (+1.745 seconds).

The second medal for Slovakia has been ensured by Samuel Balaz and Adam Botek in men’s K2 1000 metres race in the U23 category. They finished second, loosing 0.300 seconds on the victorious duo Bram Sikkens and Artuur Peters of Belgium. Stanislav Daineka and Vladislav Litvinov of Belarus gained the bronze medal.
