Bratislava to Host Summit on Dual Quality Food on October 13
Bratislava, September 29 (TASR) – A summit entitled ‘For the Same Quality of Products for All’ is due to take place in Bratislava on October 13, TASR learnt from the Government Office on Friday.
Participants of the summit are set to discuss and address the issue concerning the practices that create two categories of consumers in the EU as well as adopt necessary measures to halt it.
The premiers of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, Bohuslav Sobotka, Viktor Orban and Beata Szydlowa, respectively, as well asEU Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Jourova will participate in the summit in Bratislava.
Furthermore, government representatives of the EU-member states, representatives of the European Parliament responsible for the areas of agriculture and the internal market as well as members of various consumer associations are set to attend the summit.
According to the Government Office, the upcoming Bratislava summit will be Slovakia’s specific contribution in this regard and a confirmation of Prime Minister Robert Fico’s (Smer-SD) efforts to find ways to eliminate the disparities in the dual quality of products on the European market.
The participants are expected to present the results of comparative quality tests for products that are being sold in the western and eastern parts of the EU and unveil new regulations of joint European legislation in this area.
