Suspect Device Removed from Presidential Palace Gardens

Bratislava, March 7 (TASR) – Pyrotechnicians on Monday dealt with a suspect device fixed to a tree in a publicly accessible part of the Presidential Palace gardens, President Andrej Kiska’s communications advisor Roman Krpelan wrote on a social network on the same day.

“The device resembled a dictaphone and a microphone interconnected with cables,” wrote Krpelan.

The president wasn’t at the Presidential Palace at the time.

“Staff from the Interior Ministry’s Office for the Protection of Constitutional Officials and Diplomatic Missions spotted a suspect electronic device fixed to a tree in a publicly accessible part of the gardens. The police closed the adjacent street and called pyrotechnicians, who eventually removed the device and defused it with an air gun. It wasn’t an explosive device,” TASR was told by Interior Ministry spokesman Ivan Netik, who added that the police are currently examining video footage from security cameras in order to find out who fixed the device to the tree.
