Danko Most Likeable; Kotleba Least Amiable among Party Chairmen

Bratislava, August 22 (TASR) – According to a poll carried out by Focus agency on a sample of 1,002 people between August 11-16, Parliamentary Chairman and Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Andrej Danko was the most likeable politician (chosen by 48.5 percent), followed by Parliamentary Vice-chairman and Most-Hid leader Bela Bugar on 44.1 percent, TASR learnt on Monday.

Next came the following politicians: Prime Minister and Smer-SD leader Robert Fico (35.9 percent), Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) leader Richard Sulik (34.2 percent), We Are Family chairman Boris Kollar (28.8 percent), Ordinary People-NOVA chief Igor Matovic (27.9 percent), Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) leader Alojz Hlina (21 percent), and People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) head Marian Kotleba (18.8 percent).

Respondents were also asked whom they would describe as the least amiable. Kotleba came top in this category on 72.6 percent, followed by Matovic (63.7 percent), Kollar (61.5 percent), Fico (58.4 percent), Sulik (55.5 percent), Bugar (47.3 percent), Hlina (44 percent) and Danko (37.4 percent).

“The [perceived] affability and unpleasantness of chairmen of political parties remained stable compared to the previous poll from June 2016. Significant decreases in antipathy were recorded only by Hlina (from 51 to 44 percent), with a mild drop for Bugar (from 52 to 47.3),” added Martin Slosiarik of Focus agency.

People were given the names of the chairs of parties that recorded more than 4-percent support in the latest opinion poll and were asked whether they know each person and how they feel about him.
