Survey: RTVS Newscasts Viewed as Most Objective Again

Bratislava, October 24 (TASR) – Public-service broadcaster Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) has the most objective television news broadcasts, according to the results of a survey published by Median SK on Monday.

The poll, which canvassed 2,067 respondents aged 14-79 between July and September, showed that 22.5 percent of people think that RTVS (STV) provides the most objective news reporting, followed by news-only channel TA3 on 20.9 percent. Next came private channel TV Markiza on 18.2 percent and private channel TV JOJ on 15.7 percent.

Around 3.4 percent of the respondents chose some other television channel as broadcasting the most objective news reporting, while 17.4 percent were unable to answer. The respondents were allowed to pick only one television channel.

“It is important that RTVS as a public-service institution fulfils the function of a reliable information source for the public, and I am glad that we are doing well in that,” said RTVS news and journalism section head Maria Hluchanova in response to the survey results.
