Danko: Regional Elections Will Take Place on November 4
Bratislava, June 23 (TASR) – This year’s regional elections will take place on Saturday, November 4, according to a decision made by Parliamentary Chairman Andrej Danko (a Slovak National Party/SNS), TASR learnt from Parliament communication department director Zuzana Cizmarikova on Friday.
The parliamentary chair must announce election dates 110 days before the election day at the latest. In line with the law, the elections have to be held in the last 14 days of the electoral term.
The last regional elections took place in 2013. The first round took place on November 9 and the second on November 23.
However, in line with an amendment to the Election Act, which was adopted by Parliament in March, two-round regional elections have been changed into single round contests. So, a candidate that garners the highest number of votes on November 4 will become regional governor in one of the eight regions in Slovakia.
