Finals of Greatest Slovak Poll also Include Dubcek, Janosik, Sagan and Stefanik
Bratislava, January 2 (TASR) – One Slovak woman, eight Slovak men and one pair – this is how the ten most popular personalities in the ‘Greatest Slovak’ national poll look, TASR learnt from Silvia Turnerova of the RTVS’s marketing and communication department.
The BBC-licensed programme, adjusted by Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) to Slovak specifics, was opened for voting on November 1 last year and is due to close on May 1.
Most votes in the nomination vote of the Greatest Slovak poll were given to singer Marika Gombitova, 1968 Prague Spring leader Alexander Dubcek, Catholic priest and politician Andrej Hlinka, communist leader Gustav Husak, brigand Juraj Janosik, missionaries Cyril and Methodius, cycling star Peter Sagan, Catholic priest Anton Srholec, Slovak language codifier and politician Ludovit Stur, and First World War politician and co-founder of the Czechoslovak Republic Milan Rastislav Stefanik.
SMS voting will decide who will become the winner and thus the Greatest Slovak.
