French Film Week in Bratislava to Pay Homage to Isabelle Huppert
Bratislava, March 22 (TASR) – The fourth French film week ‘Creme de la Creme’, which began in Bratislava on Wednesday, will feature around twenty contemporary French films, TASR learnt on the same day.
This year’s festival won’t take place only in Bratislava, but also in 15 other towns and cities at 20 cinemas across Slovakia.
The film showcase with six programme sections will open with L’Avenir (Things to Come, 2016), which won the 2016 Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale. French actress Isabelle Huppert stars in the movie as a philosophy teacher who is abandoned by her long-term partner. Creme de la Creme will pay homage to this popular French actress in the Portrait section of the festival. The same section also features the latest film by Paul Verhoeven, Elle, in which Huppert plays the successful director of a company whose life is turned upside down when she’s attacked at home by an unidentified man. The actress won a Golden Globe for this role and an Oscar nomination.
In addition to serious and deep stories, Creme de la Creme will also present French comedies and films for children. These include, for example, the successful comedy Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu? (Serial Bad Weddings, 2014) and Un homme a la hauteur (Up for Love, 2016)
The week of French films will run in the capital until March 29.
