Gajdos: Two Black Hawks to Arrive to Slovakia by Year End
Sliac, August 27 (TASR) – Two out of nine multi-purpose UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, currently being produced for the Slovak Armed Forces in the USA, should arrive to Slovakia by the end of the year, Defence Minister Peter Gajdos said on the sidelines of the SIAF air show in Sliac (Banska Bystrica region) on Saturday.
“We continue in fulfilling the contract. An addendum has been signed, with the Black Hawk helicopters being produced in USA, while our pilots are undergoing training for these helicopters also in USA,” said Gajdos.
The new American helicopters are set to replace current Russian Mi-17 machines that are close to the end of their lifetime.
Nine Black Hawks worth a total of $261 million are set to be purchased by Slovakia.
