INEKO: Slovakia's Best Hospitals in Banska Bystrica and Kosice-Saca

Bratislava, October 14 (TASR) – F.D. Roosevelt Faculty Hospital in Banska Bystrica and Kosice-Saca Hospital, 1st Private Hospital are the best hospitals in Slovakia this year, according to an evaluation of health-care facilities carried out by the Institute for Economic and Social Reforms (INEKO), TASR learnt on Monday.


The hospital in Banska Bystrica received the best ranking in the category of state university and faculty hospitals, while the hospital in Kosice-Saca topped the list of general hospitals. Representatives of the hospitals were also given awards.

In the state university and faculty hospitals category, the SNP Central Military Hospital in Ruzomberok came second followed by Martin Faculty Hospital (both Zilina region). As for general hospitals, second place went to Stara Lubovna Hospital and third to Poprad State Hospital (both Presov region).

According to analyst Dusan Zachar, F.D. Roosevelt Hospital in Banska Bystrica was the only one of the large state facilities to score a more or less above-average evaluation in each of the six main monitored areas, including the quality of health care provided, experience, diagnosis complexity, patient satisfaction, hospital management and transparency. The institute noted that in terms of the medical and economic demands of diagnoses, the hospital tends to admit patients with the most complicated health problems in Slovakia.

The lowest rating in the INEKO evaluation this year was given to Trnava Faculty Hospital, which achieved average or below-average ratings for all indicators. In the category of general hospitals, patients were least satisfied with the hospital in Levice (Nitra region).
