Kiska Congratulates Hungarian President Ader on Re-election
Bratislava, March 13 (TASR) – Slovak President Andrej Kiska on Monday telephoned his Hungarian counterpart Janos Ader to congratulate him on his re-election in a parliamentary vote earlier in the day, stating that he’s looking forward to continuing neighbourly dialogue between their countries and the two as presidents as well.
“Along with you I’m ready to continue supporting the development of Slovak-Hungarian relations and to contribute towards boosting security, stability and prosperity in our region and the whole of Europe. I wish you much success in carrying out the demanding tasks standing before you,” said Kiska.
Ader, 57, nominated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party, was two votes short of the 133 votes needed for a two-thirds majority in the first round. A simple majority was enough to win in round two, so Ader’s repeated score of 131 votes secured him the presidential office for another five-year term. Ader’s rival Laszlo Majtenyi, nominated by the Opposition except for the far-right Jobbik, received a mere 39 votes in round two.
