Kiska Perceives Second Leaked Video as Smear Campaign

Bratislava, February 19 (TASR) – Chairman of non-parliamentary ‘For People’ party and ex-president Andrej Kiska described the second video released anonymously on-line as part of an anti-campaign and averred that a certain Smer-SD MP is behind it, TASR learnt on Wednesday.

“If police summons me, I’ll provide full co-operation in order to shed light into this smear,” Kiska stated at a press conference. He expects the ‘smear campaign’ against him to continue.

On Wednesday, the second video related to Kiska’s land case in Velky Slavkov (Presov region) was leaked on-line anonymously. The video features a secretly recorded conversation between Kiska and Michal Suliga, the witness in the land case. The two men discuss the case and also various post-election scenarios.

The first video dated from last week captured Suliga’s conversation with alleged former mafia boss Milan Reichel. In the recording, Suliga claimed that Kiska had been aware he was buying illicitly acquired land and Suliga was covering for him during the trial.

In the past, then-president Kiska was locked in a legal battle with dentist Jan Franc over Franc’s plot of land that Kiska had purchased from a third party in 1999 without Franc’s knowledge. Kiska lost the lawsuit in 2018. Judge Miroslav Radacovsky ruled that Kiska purchased the land in good faith and couldn’t have known it had been acquired unlawfully.
Kiska denounced the first video as slander and lodged a criminal complaint over it.
