Matovic: Government Will Be Stable, Fico Can Keep Boozer Dreams

Trnava, March 1 (TASR) – OLaNO leader Igor Matovic, the likely winner of the general election in Slovakia on Saturday, said at an election night event in Trnava that there is a hope that a stable government will be created from hitherto opposition parties.

“The Opposition’s breakthrough is so strong that that there’s a hope that even if someone from our party or other parties leaves, the government will remain stable,” said Matovic.

The OLaNO leader said that there’s no peril that the future government will be tossed in wrangles about ethical issues, such as registered partnerships for same sex couples and abortions.

“We’ve got from voters an entirely different task than engaging in culture wars. I’m not afraid that [some] OLaNO MPs will leave the party, either. In this [past] electoral term, even if someone left us, they didn’t switch the sides to vote along with the mafia,” said Matovic.

He said that he wasn’t scared of Smer-SD head Robert Fico’s prognosis that the government will disintegrate within two years and the former three-times prime minister will return even stronger.

“Let Mr. Fico continue dreaming his boozer dreams,” said Matovic.
