Median SK Poll: Smer Would Have Won Election on 29.5 percent of Votes

Bratislava, December 15 (TASR) – If a general election had been held in November, it would have been won by the governing coalition Smer-SD party with 29.5 percent of the votes, followed by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 15 percent and the Slovak National Party (SNS) on 11 percent, according to a poll carried out by Median SK agency.

The poll was carried out on a sample of 2,016 respondents via e-questionnaires and interviews between October 31-November 27.

Five other parties would have cleared the 5-percent threshold needed to win representation in Parliament: Kotleba-People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) – 9.5 percent, OLaNO-NOVA and Most-Hid – both 7 percent, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) – 6.5 percent and Boris Kollar’s We Are Family – 5 percent.

The list of parties that would have failed to get into Parliament included the ethnic-Hungarian SMK (4 percent), and Siet/Network (2 percent). The remaining parties garnered a total of 3.5 percent.

According to the poll, 31.5 percent of the respondents would have certainly gone to the polling stations, while 21 percent would probably have voted. Another 5.5 percent would probably not have voted, while 41 percent would definitely not have voted. The remaining 1 percent couldn’t say whether they would have voted or not.
