MPs Take Their Children to Parliament to Support Working Parents

Bratislava, May 18 (TASR) – Some MPs from the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party, OLaNO-NOVA, We Are Family and the coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) brought their children and grandchildren to Parliament on Thursday to express their support for working parents, TASR learnt on the same day.

The MPs joined the Bring a Child to Work initiative sponsored by Independent MP Simona Petrik.

“The event is aimed at promoting various forms of harmonising work and family and highlighting positive examples of some employers who are helping their employees to manage parenting by creating children’s playgrounds and company nursery schools, offering flexible working hours or making it possible to take an infant to work,” said Petrik.

The Independent MP, the mother of one child, wants to persuade employers to start thinking about ways to help their employees in this regard. She stated that more than 100 parents took part in her initiative last year. This year’s Bring a Child to Work has been co-organised by Polish MP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, who will arrange a similar event in Poland.

We Are Family head Boris Kollar, Dusan Tittel (SNS), Lucia Duris Nicholsonova, Juraj Droba, Jana Ciganikova (all SaS), Eduard Heger, Alan Suchanek (both OLaNO-NOVA) and the organiser Petrik took their children to Parliament earlier in the day.
