OLaNO Ready for Coalition With SaS and We Are Family, If For People Rejects

Bratislava, March 4 (TASR) – OLaNO is also ready to form a coalition only with Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and We Are Family, if the party presidium of For the People decides not to join the four-strong coalition with these parties, OLaNO leader Igor Matovic said following his meeting with We Are Family chairman Boris Kollar on Wednesday.

Kollar confirmed this procedure and said that his party stands behind OLaNO.
Matovic and Kollar at the same time said that if the party presidium of For the People approves joining the coalition with OLaNO, SaS and We Are Family on Thursday (March 5), the leaders of all four parties could meet on that day.

The OLaNO leader also stated that without We Are Family, the majority in Parliament would be very tight. According to Kollar, they are waiting for Andrej Kiska’s decision. Following For the People’s verdict, the joint coalition should be approved by the presidiums of OLaNO and We Are Family. According to Matovic, negotiating teams will meet subsequently.

Matovic wants to respond to Kiska’s doubts about possible nominations by We Are Family, through a proposal to create a fund for investigative journalism. In this way, an objective and unquestionable inspection would be ensured.

Kollar agrees to create the fund. According to Matovic, its preliminary amount would be €10 million per year, and the fund would be named after Jan Kuciak. “Representatives of various editorial staffs would decide on the allocation of the funds,” said Matovic, adding that they want to show their pure intentions in this way.

Kollar also apologised to SaS chairman Richard Sulik for his messages through the media. He assured that, for example, the issue of the construction of rental flats will be explained by expert groups. Matovic announced that more than 15 Slovak economists will meet with Austrian experts who worked on the project of rental flats on Monday (March 9).
