Pellegrini: No Incongruences in My Income, Ready to Prove It

Bratislava, April 4 (TASR) – Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) is ready to explain any putative incongruences regarding his income, as according to media information he shouldn’t have been able to afford the purchase of his new flat based on his official income alone, TASR learnt on Wednesday.

Pellegrini maintains that there are no discrepancies in his incomes and plans to prove it. Furthermore, he wants to show MPs also the state of his banking accounts in 2012, when he submitted them to the National Security Office (NBU) in order to obtain top secret security clearance.

“I don’t have any issue with producing documentation for other income, which wasn’t included in property disclosures but was disclosed anyway. I’ll also show the state of my accounts that I disclosed for NBU in 2012, when I acquired top secret security clearance. I’ve got nothing to hide. I’ll be glad if this is cleared up as soon as possible,” Pellegrini said at Slavin Memorial after commemorating the 73d anniversary of Bratislava liberation.

Pellegrini is confident that the documents he is ready to submit to MPs will refute any doubts about the financing of his flat. “I’m ready to appear before the committee. All it takes is for them to summon me and I’ll submit all relevant documentation to disprove any doubts.”

Earlier in the day, Dennik N daily calculated that expenditures of Peter Pellegrini surpass his published income by some €100,000, provided that he keeps his basic monthly expenses below €1,000. The Prime Minister responded to Dennik N’s inquiry by saying that aside from public office income, he also enjoyed other income that the law doesn’t require him to include in property disclosure.

On Wednesday, Pellegrini claimed that he had had additional income from the sale of real estate property. “In 2008, I sold my first flat after eight years of ownership. In 2009, I also sold the garage,” he said, adding that he had also sold an assembly hall in 2008.
