Police Press Charges of Tax Evasion against Ladislav B.

Bratislava, March 21 (TASR) – An investigator of the National Crime Agency (NAKA) has pressed charges of tax and insurance premium evasion against a businessman referred to only as Ladislav B., Police Corps spokesman Martin Waldl told TASR on Tuesday.

“An investigator of the Police Corps’ National Crime Agency on March 17, 2017 pressed charges against L.B. for the crime of failing to deduct tax and insurance. An intense investigation is taking place on the issue following the charges, and with respect to this we’ll present more detailed information when the investigation process allows it,” Waldl told TASR.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor’s Office didn’t provide any further information on the case. “Action is being taken regarding the matter, an investigation is under way, so we won’t provide any more detailed information at the moment,” said Special Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Jana Tokolyova.

Several media outlets have reported that Ladislav B. might have applied for excessive tax allowances amounting to €2 million in total concerning flats in the Five Star Residence housing complex in Bratislava. The police launched a prosecution concerning the case last year, with several searches also being carried out. Nevertheless, the police didn’t specify whether the fresh charges are related to this case.
