Poll: Smer Remains in Lead on 28 percent, SaS and SNS Follow
Bratislava, March 17 (TASR) – Had a general election taken place in the middle of March, it would have been won by the Smer-SD party on 28 percent of votes, TASR learnt from a poll by AKO agency, which released the results on Friday.
The survey, which was conducted on a sample of 1,000 respondents between March 13-15, also showed that the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party would have been the preferred choice of 17.4 percent of respondents, while the Slovak National Party (SNS) came third on 11.3 percent of votes.
The far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) would have been supported by 11 percent of people, followed by OLaNO-NOVA on 9.1 percent, Most-Hid on 7.5 percent and We Are Family on 6.6 percent.
On 5.1 percent, the Christian Democrats (KDH) would have been the eighth and final party to clear the 5-percent threshold needed to win seats in Parliament.
The ethnic-Hungarian SMK party would have received 2.2 percent of votes, with Siet (Network) down to 1 percent.
In terms of the distribution of seats in the House, the figures would have been as follows: Smer – 44, SaS – 27, SNS – 18, LSNS – 17, OLaNO-NOVA – 14, Most-Hid – 12, We Are Family – 10, and KDH – 8.
A total of 72.4 percent of people would have gone to the polls, while 10.6 percent had no such plans and 16.1 percent were undecided as to their preferred party.
