Prime Minister Fico Undergoes Successful Heart Surgery

Bratislava, April 22 (TASR) – Prime Minister Robert Fico underwent a successful heart surgery at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NUSCH) in Bratislava, confirmed NUSCH director Mongi Msolly at a briefing on Friday.

NUSCH didn’t specify what concrete kind of surgery has been performed. Fico was operated on by Cardiosurgery Clinics chief and Cardiosurgery Department head physician Michal Hulman. “Cardiosurgery was performed in a standard way. Patient is currently in a stable condition and was transferred to the anaesthesiology and resuscitation department,” stated Hulman. Further information wasn’t provided on Fico’s and his family’s request.

Fico has been in hospital since Thursday (April 14).
