RTVS Preparing New Series of 'O 5 minut 12' Programme with Hajko

Bratislava, August 13 (TASR) – Public broadcaster Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) continues to prepare political discussion programme ‘O 5 minut 12’ (Five Minutes to Twelve) in cooperation with journalist, analyst and publicist Jozef Hajko, said RTVS general director Jaroslav Reznik during RTVS Council’s meeting on Monday.

[Hajko in the autumn will replace now former O 5 minut 12 presenter Martin Strizinec, who announced at the beginning of the year that he would leave the Sunday lunchtime show after its ongoing season ended at the start of this summer. – ed. note]

Meanwhile, the RTVS general director informed the Council members that Strizinec is among the candidates for a new programme called ‘Experiment’, which is dedicated to the field of science.

According to Reznik, preparations are in progress for the launch of a new series of ‘Reporters’ in the autumn broadcasting schedule starting as of September 15. “The editorial staff has been stabilised, graphics have been prepared and presenters have been selected,” said Reznik. “An editorial team has seven plus two members who will work on topics, with each of them having enough time to prepare their reportage in terms of its concept and to consult issues concerning the reportage with lawyers,” said Reznik.

[‘Reporters’, was taken off the air at the beginning of this year, with Reznik claiming that it had “almost completely lost its investigative character”. The move led to criticism from some RTVS staff and journalistic organisations. Reznik subsequently stated that the programme would reappear in an improved form in the autumn. – ed. note]
