Sagan Rewrites History, Wins Third Consecutive World Champion Title

Bratislava, September 25 (TASR) – Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan has defended his world champion title in Bergen, Norway, TASR learnt on Sunday.

He has thus rewritten sport statistics, as he is the first cyclist in the history to claim the third consecutive world road race title.

Sagan, who also dominated last year’s UCI Road World Championships in the Qatari capital of Doha and the one in the US city of Richmond two years ago, didn’t give a chance to his opponents in the final spurt of the men’s elite road race category with a mass start. He pipped home favourite Alexander Kristoff, with Australia’s Michael Matthews finishing third.
