Slovakia Will Dominate Its Group with Nine Points After Group Stage

Vienna, June 10 (TASR) – According to a special computer simulation developed by a team of experts at Technical University in Vienna, Slovak national football players will advance to the knockout stage of EURO 2016 as the winner of the B group without losing a single point, TASR learnt on Friday.

Winners of the remaining groups will be France, Poland, Spain, Belgium and Austria.

The computer simulation was developed professor Hardy Hanappi, who specialises in similar projects in the area of complex political and economic processes. He decided to set the programme by using the same methods to calculate the order of the teams after the group stage. Along with his students he has been analysing all matches of all EURO 2016 participants since 2012. Based on these matches he set the quality parameters of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

After enormous amount of simulations, Hanappi could predict the most likely results. He has found out that Slovakia will beat all of its opponents in the B group – Wales, Russia as well as England – and thus will have the full nine points. The simulation has further showed that none of the B group matches should end up in a draw.

“We’ll also make predictions for the playoff stage of the tournament after the group stage is over. We’ll try to make the quality of our algorithms even better,” said Hanappi.

In addition, his model has predicted that Italy will end its tournament already in the group stage, that is, after the first three matches.
