Slovaks Lose 1:2 against Czechs in UEFA Nations League Derby

Slovakia’s national football team lost 1:2 to the Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League Group 1 of League B derby played at the Anton Malatinsky football stadium in Trnava on Saturday.

The Slovak footballers started with a slower pace than usual, showing only few offensive actions.

Despite the defeat, Saturday’s match was a milestone for two Slovak players – Marek Hamsik marked his record 108th cap with a goal and Slovakia’s captain Martin Skrtel recorded his 100th start in the national team.

On Sunday evening coach of the national football team Jan Kozak unexpectedly resigned from his post.

On Tuesday, October 16 the Slovak footballers are set to play a training match against Sweden in Stockholm. Following Kozak’s resignation, the national team in Sweden will be temporally headed by assistant Stefan Tarkovic.
