Vlhova Wins European Cup's Giant Slalom in Jasna

Jasna, March 2 (TASR) – Slovak alpine skier Petra Vlhova won the giant slalom race at this year’s European Cup held in Jasna ski resort in the Low Tatra mountains on Saturday.

Vlhova triumphed in the race with a lead of 0.19 second over German skier Marlene Schmotz, whereas the third place went to Austrian Eva-Maria Brem (+0.33).
The acting world champion in this discipline was the only Slovak representative on the starting list for the race. She was second after the first round.

“I was very glad to compete at home again, I told myself I should probably win. It’s incredible how many people came here and that I managed to win. Jasna is my ski resort, I grew up here, so it was great. However, sometimes it’s difficult to compete at home,” said Vlhova.

The oldest ski event in Slovakia has been organised since 1939.
