Stefan Harabin to Run for Supreme Court Top Post
Bratislava, August 7 (TASR) – Supreme Court judge Stefan Harabin will run for the post of Supreme Court chairman in the September election, TASR learnt on Wednesday.
“The motive that has spurred my candidacy is the ongoing ‘Mafianisation’ of the Supreme Court. The personnel staffing of the bench at the behest of political Mafiosos,” claimed Harabin.
Harabin pointed out that his career as a judge goes back almost 40 years. He also believes that people have lost trust in state institutions and justice.
The vote by the Judicial Council is scheduled for September 9, 2019. Incumbent Supreme Court chair Daniela Svecova’s five-year term will expire in October.
Harabin has already served as Supreme Court chair – between 2009-14.
