Two Light Planes Collide in Mid-air in Nitra, One Crashes into Family House

Nitra, April 2 (TASR) – Two light engineless aircraft collided in mid-air in the Nitra borough of Zobor on Saturday, with one of the them crashing into the roof of a family house, while the other landed safely at the nearby Janikovce Airport, Nitra regional police directorate spokesperson Bozena Bruchterova told TASR later in the day.

According to witnesses, the two planes were flying in a close distance and at one moment they touched each other. News website nasanitra.sme.sk reported that the family that owns the house was having a lunch when the plane crashed into the roof.

“The 38-year old pilot from the Czech Republic managed to jump out from the aircraft before it crashed. He landed with a parachute in the garden, suffering minor injuries,” said Bruchterova, adding that the incident is being investigated by experts.
