Vychodna Folklore Festival Opens Its Gate in Liptov on Thursday
Vychodna June 29 (TASR) – The oldest and largest folklore festival in Slovakia began in the village of Vychodna (Zilina region) situated under the Krivan hill on Thursday, TASR learnt on the same day.
The main theme of the 63rd edition of the festival is folklore in its traditional and modern forms. It aims to motivate children to appreciate traditions, demolish the frontiers between nations and discover different cultures.
More than 2,100 artists will perform on the stages of the open air amphitheatre during the four days of the festival.
“As time progresses the demands of spectators attending folklore festivals also grows. We try to respond to it so that the Vychodna festival remains the most prestigious folklore festival in Slovakia,” said programme director Pavol Pitonak.
The objective of the organisers is to show the youngest generation the beauty of Slovak folklore and traditions and motivate them to preserve these traditions. “The final gala programme on Sunday is set to attract as many children and parents as possible. It will be free of charge,” said festival director Jana Kresakova.
