Week of Science and Technology with 400 Events Across Slovakia
Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) – The fifteenth annual Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia, which was opened on Monday, will include over 400 events, the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry’s communications department told TASR on the same day, adding that the week is aimed at making science and technology more popular.
Many events will take place not only in the Slovak capital, but also in Kosice, Trnava, Nitra and Banska Bystrica. On Tuesday (November 6), the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information will hold an event called Tuesday with Psychology, which will familiarise the public with the fields studied in psychology and how it can help people in their everyday lives.
An interactive exhibition called ‘Science Unconventionally’ and the Amavet Science and Technology Festival 2018 will be held in Bratislava’s Incheba exposition hall on November 8 and 9. “A national conference entitled ‘Science and Technology in Slovakia and in International Research and Education Environment – Heading towards Quality and Knowledge’ has been prepared for the professional community on November 8. The Week of Science and Technology will culminate with a gala evening on Thursday (November 8), where Prizes for Science and Technology will be presented,” said the ministry.
The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) has prepared several events within the week, too. Its spokesperson Monika Hucakova told TASR that SAV will organise research at Mlynany Arboretum for pupils and the public on Wednesday (November 7). Pupils will learn about how trees and microbes coexist and the cultivation of roses and will be able to go on a tour of the arboretum’s educational pathways. SAV’s Institute of Astronomy has prepared a programme to mark 75 years of its existence in Tatranska Lomnica on Wednesday (November 7), followed by night-sky observation as of 6 p.m.
The Week of Science and Technology will last until Sunday (November 11), concluding a Scientific Autumn of Events aimed at popularising science and technology.
