Barabas's 'Sloboda pod nakladom' Receives Grand Prix in Bilbao

Bratislava, December 19 (TASR) – Pavol Barabas’s documentary ‘Sloboda pod nakladom’ (Freedom under Load) about the oldest generation of mountain porters in the High Tatra mountains has received the Grand Prix Award at the Bilbao Mendi Film Festival, TASR learnt on Monday.

This is the tenth award for the film. “It’s a movie about faith and devotion to the mountains; it offers tranquillity and harmony, which is needed so much in today’s world,” commented the jury on its decision.

The Bilbao Mendi Film Festival took place between December 9-18 and featured 40 films from all around the world, as well as lectures, workshops and other events. The Spanish city of Bilbao has become a centre for mountain climbers, adventurers, film-makers and artists. It’s visited by thousands of people every year, as it’s one of the best of its kind.

Sloboda pod nakladom premiered on September 1 and is one of the most frequently watched films distributed by the Slovak Film Clubs Association (ASFK) in 2016. It’s still possible to see the movie in club cinemas, on DVD, or you can wait for its TV premiere on December 23 on RTVS’s second channel TV Dvojka.
