Cabinet Okays Salary Hikes for Newly Qualified Teachers
Bratislava, June 12 (TASR) – The salaries of newly qualified teachers should increase as of September, as the Cabinet at its session on Wednesday approved a respective amendment sponsored by the Slovak National Party (SNS).
The aim of the draft amendment is to increase financial remuneration in all categories of teaching and professional employees at schools with an emphasis on new teachers.
“The salaries of teaching and professional employees at schools should go up by 9.5 percent as of September 1, 2019. Following these changes, salaries will also increase depending on the length of the teacher’s experience. The salaries of teachers who have been working for between one-eight years will increase by 0.25 percent, while they’ll increase by 0.5 percent for those teaching for 9-40 years,” said MP Eva Smolikova (SNS).
