Drucker: Best Medical Staff Leaving NUSCH Not Coincidence
Bratislava, 25 August (TASR) – As many as 11 medical staff, including top-notch doctors and nurses from the interventional radiology and diagnostics department, have quit their jobs at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NUSCH) in Bratislava, TASR learnt on Friday.
Their resignations are valid as of November 1 and “this team” is allegedly moving to the private health care centre Medissimo, which falls under the financial group Penta, stated Health Minister Tomas Drucker (a Smer-SD nominee) at a press conference in Bratislava earlier in the day.
“I don’t consider this to be a coincidence,” said Drucker, adding that he views this as a failure on the part of the NUSCH. “I’m going to look into the issue and find out why it has happened,” said the minister, adding that he will hold talks with the hospital management about the issue.
The outgoing medical staff allegedly wasn’t satisfied with the technical equipment at NUSCH, stated Drucker. “I’m not saying that there were no problems, but that it all ended up in this way … that’s too much,” he said, noting that he won’t allow the departure of the doctors and nurses to affect patients in any way.
“I’m going to examine it, as it’s a top-notch institute,” said Drucker, noting that he wants to adopt measures in order to prevent such a situation from happening again in the future.
Tomas Kral, the spokesman of Penta’s Svet Zdravia (‘World of Health’) hospital network told TASR in response that none of the outgoing medical staff from NUSCH is moving to the ProCare company or to any other firm that falls under the Penta Investments group. “A company called CINTRE represented by one of the doctors who quit at NUSCH [Ivan Vulev], approached us in the matter of looking for a suitable premises for a long-term commercial rental,” said Kral, adding that the Medissimo hospital has had such a premises at its disposal. “We’ve agreed on a tenancy relation with CINRE, but our group is not connected with CINRE’s activities or its representatives in any way,” added Kral.
