EduMin: Beblavy Has Only Repeated Same Old Accusations
Bratislava, April 12 (TASR) – Although Independent MP Miroslav Beblavy said that he would present new evidence with respect to accusations concerning Education, Science, Research and Sport Minister Peter Plavcan and his alleged involvement in shady activities at the Student Credit Fund (SPF) and Credit Fund for New Teachers, he’s only repeated the old ones, said Vahram Chuguryan from the ministry on Tuesday.
“Tuesday’s press conference by Miroslav Beblavy has only confirmed that it’s all about his own publicity,” said Chuguryan. “Despite claiming to present new facts about the case, he’s ended up recapitulating exactly the same accusations that minister Plavcan has already dismissed in an interview with TASR, with other media and in a direct TV confrontation with MP Veronika Remisova [OLaNO-NOVA],” stated Chuguryan, adding that the minister won’t be addressing this issue any more.
Beblavy said earlier that Parliamentary Chair and Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Andrej Danko should do a deal with Plavcan concerning the latter’s resigning from his post.
Beblavy also stated that Plavcan received the highest bonuses among SPF employees every year and that he also broke a couple of laws by accepting the rewards. Another problem was a loan of €5.5 million provided by the Student Credit Fund to non-banking financial group Slavia Capital, in which Plavcan’s wife Viera was involved. This loan was allegedly procured not to the benefit of students but due to financial bonuses for bodies involved in the transaction.
