Focus Poll: Smer Retains Clear Lead, SaS and LSNS Follow
Bratislava, June 8 (TASR) – Had a general election been held in late May or early June, the governing Smer-SD party would have been voted by 26.2 percent of people, which is equivalent to 44 legislators in Parliament, TASR learnt from a poll by Focus agency out on Thursday.
Next came the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party on 13.4 percent, or 22 seats in the House. The far-right LSNS party came third on 10.9 percent of votes and would have sent 18 of its representatives into Parliament.
The poll was conducted on a sample of 1,012 respondents between May 31 and June 4.
On 10.2 percent of votes (17 seats), the Slovak National Party (SNS) finished fourth in the survey.
Next came OLaNO-NOVA party on 9.6 percent (16 seats). We Are Family and Most-Hid would have had the same number of seats (12 each), as they would have been the preferred choice for 7.4 percent and 6.9 percent of voters, respectively.
The Christian Democrats (KDH) would have been the last party to clear the 5-percent threshold, which is needed to win representation in Parliament. It would have received 5.7 percent of votes (9 seats).
On support from 4 percent of voters, the ethnic-Hungarian SMK party would have stayed outside Parliament again.
A total of 69.5 percent of the respondents would have gone to the polling stations. Around 20.6 percent of the respondents wouldn’t have voted, while 9.9 percent were undecided as to who they would vote for.
