Harabin and Kotleba Not to Run Together in 2020 General Election
Bratislava, November 14 (TASR) – Former justice minister and ex-chairman of the Supreme Court Stefan Harabin’s party Homeland will run on its own in the general election set for February 29, 2020, TASR learnt on Thursday.
The announcement was made by Harabin after talks with figures from the far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) of Marian Kotleba.
“For the sake of Slovakia’s national interests and its people, it’s a better solution to run independently in the election, so that no votes of people who are concerned about a normal Slovakia and who want to protect our homeland from the perverse ultra-liberal experiments of the new rich, are lost” said Harabin.
Stating that Homeland and LSNS have many opinions in common, he pointed out that there are also many differences, stating that LSNS – as opposed to Homeland – doesn’t have any specific solutions to many social, economic and health-care problems.
LSNS has signed in the meantime a memorandum on co-operation in the election with four other parties: National Coalition, KDZP Alliance for Slovakia, Direct Democracy, and Well Home
