Minister Lubyova Survives No-confidence Motion
Bratislava, February 18 (TASR) – Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport Martin Lubyova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) has survived the no-confidence motion in Parliament at an extraordinary session on Monday, as only 43 out of 105 present lawmakers voted for her ouster.
The opposition wanted to oust the minister over problems surrounding the allocation of subsidies for research and development projects, pointing to copied assessments of projects, inaccurate points tally and other alleged errors. Another problem the opposition cites is the failure to address the European Funds scandal from summer 2017.
Minister Lubyova rejects the allegations as an opposition attempt at politicking. She received support from the Government and preponderance of coalition MPs.
