Bratislava, July 20 (TASR) – The eighth annual Proud of the Family march was held in Bratislava on Saturday, pointing to the importance of the family and the irreplaceable role of a father and mother for every child, with this year’s march attended by Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS), TASR learnt on Saturday.
“The reason why we’ve come here is simply to show the joy of the family, and that children need a father and a mother. Children are the most important thing for us, and we want them to be given the best,” said one of the march organisers Anton Chromik from civic initiative Proud of the Family.
The march organisers didn’t demand any changes in legislation. “We think it’s a good idea to maintain the current state of affairs, and we even want the family to hold onto its special status in society,” said Chromik.
Danko said that he’s pleased to live in a country where both people supporting the LGBTI community and Proud of the Family have expressed their opinions. “I’m sure that there will be free and democratic expressions by people as is appropriate for a mature and democratic country respecting the rule of law,” he stated.
