Six People Still in Bratislava Hospitals Following Bus Crash

Bratislava, June 22 (TASR) – Six people were still receiving treatment in Bratislava hospitals following Tuesday’s (June 21) accident involving a bus carrying tourists through Serbia, TASR learnt from Interior Ministry spokesman Ivan Netik on Wednesday.

Two of the six, who are Czech citizens, will be transported to the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

The injured holidaymakers were brought back to Slovakia by a special government aircraft late on Tuesday. Five of them are in St. Michal’s Hospital. “Two are Czech citizens who have been diagnosed and can be transported. Their lives are no longer in danger. These two, a father and his daughter, will be transported to the Czech Republic later on Wednesday,” said the Interior Ministry.

Three Slovaks will remain in St. Michal’s Hospital for observation. Their lives are no longer in danger, either. “They haven’t suffered any serious injuries that could threaten their lives. They have bruises and superficial skin injuries instead,” Netik told TASR.

Five other people were treated at Bratislava University Hospital (UNB) following their arrival home. “All of them were in a stable condition with minor injuries. Four people were released after treatment, while one patient remained in hospital,” said UNB spokesperson Zuzana Eliasova.

[The accident took place on a section of the Belgrade-Skopje motorway approximately 200 kilometres from the Serbian capital shortly before 4 a.m. on Tuesday.
