TASR Recorded Surplus of Just Over €303,000 in 2015

Bratislava, June 9 (TASR) – The News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) produced a surplus of €303,076 by earning €6,282,616 and spending €5,979,540 in 2015, said TASR board of directors chairman Vladimir Masar at a session of the parliamentary culture and media committee on Thursday.
Masar submitted the annual report of TASR’s activities and management for 2015. It showed that the agency issued 276,351 pieces of multimedia news, of which 154,371 were written stories, 13,137 were sound recordings, 99,877 were photographs and 8,786 were videos.
Meanwhile, TASR employed 140 people in 2015. “The TASR board of directors positively evaluated the agency’s innovativeness and innovations. The teraz.sk website has found its way in the market very quickly. The digitalisation of our archives was also highly regarded,” said Masar.
The annual report states that the teraz.sk website was visited by more than 11 million people last year. TASR also converted more than 1.3 million materials into electronic versions.
“We’ve developed other websites. The vtedy.sk website deals with history, and the tablet.tv website is a highly respected brand of online television. It’s among the trendsetters on the online market,” states the report.
TASR developed yet another website called newsnow.sk at the end of 2015. This contains English transcripts of TASR’s stories and is the agency’s contribution to Slovakia’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU.
